about
"Csakazértis Szerelem" (roughly "Inevitable Love") by Első Emelet (First Floor) is one of my all-time favorites from the 80s synth pop songs of Hungary. The band consisted of very talented musicians, and they perfectly managed to grasp the western sound and vibe of synth pop despite being in a heavily handicapped position in music because of the Eastern Bloc.
For me, this 1988 classic musically still holds up today, but I felt it could use a little facelift. So here it is, brand new sounds with the classic 80s vibe, as synthwave should be. Don't be surprised by the Hungarian language - even if it sounds total gibberish to you, I really recommend giving this one a chance :)
Big shouts to Emelet <3
lyrics
* * *
Van, aki megy, és van, aki jön,
Aki rád nevet és elköszön,
De a végállomás én leszek, esküszöm.
Van, aki szebb, és van, aki jobb,
De olyan nincs, aki én vagyok.
Nyomodban maradok, jól tudod.
Nekem ítélt már a véletlen,
Nem menekülsz meg az életben,
Elér bárhol a csakazértis szerelem.
Kigúnyolhatsz és ellökhetsz,
Az Északi-sarkig is elszökhetsz,
Elér bárhol a csakazértis szerelem.
Ha kihúzod a telefonod,
Odafutok és bekopogok,
Ha a família letagad, csak mosolygok.
Belehalok és hazamegyek,
De ébredésed is én leszek,
Mert az ablakon otthagyok egy üzenetet.
Nekem ítélt már a véletlen,
Nem menekülsz meg az életben,
Elér bárhol a csakazértis szerelem.
Kigúnyolhatsz és ellökhetsz,
Az Észak-sarkig is elszökhetsz,
Elér bárhol a csakazértis szerelem.
Nekem ítélt már a véletlen,
Nem menekülsz meg az életben,
Elér bárhol a csakazértis szerelem.
Kigúnyolhatsz és ellökhetsz,
Az Északi-sarkig is elszökhetsz,
Elér bárhol a csakazértis szerelem.

I don't know what it is, but in DWTD's discography this record really stands out to me. Picking a favourite track is difficult because all of the songs sound incredible to me, but POISON is probably the most fresh and energetic song in my opinion. zWarhead
Woozy, vocal-driven synthwave captures the spirit and feel of the ’80s, with tremendous choruses and neon-hot electronics. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 28, 2020
